【Research theme】
From the study of East-West linguistic and cultural negotiation and archive construction in modern times based on a peripheral approach to humanities informatics
【Research purpose and research characteristics】
From the standpoint that "the essence of things can be seen from the periphery rather than the center of them," we have a common research goal of exploring and proving the effectiveness of approaches from the periphery. I would like to clarify the various aspects of modern language and culture negotiations between East and West, aiming to establish it as a methodology. This research focuses on Japan, China, Europe, and the United States in terms of region, and Chinese and East Asian linguistics, lexical history, stylistic theory, English history, and Dunhuang studies in terms of research areas. The aim of this research is to construct a bibliography and archive while deciphering the actual situation of modern East-West linguistic and cultural contacts and negotiations, and especially the events of the modern Chinese and Japanese languages, and to further incorporate the methods of humanities informatics.

The history and culture of Eurasia as told by documents, excavations, and stone carvings
【Research purpose and research characteristics】
In historical research, literary materials are the most basic, but in addition to compiled and published literary materials, there are also stone monuments, unearthed brief and paper fragments, and unorganized handwritten documents. The importance of these historical materials varies depending on the region and period in which they are the subject of historical research, but it is clear that they supplement the historical image that becomes clear from official written records compiled and published, and sometimes play a role in rewriting the historical image. Therefore, in recent years, there has been a tendency in certain fields of historical research to actively use such historical materials and conduct new research. The members of this research group cover almost the entire area of Eurasia, from the Korean Peninsula through China and inland Asia to the Anatolian Peninsula, and also cover the period from B.C. to the 18th and 19th centuries. Therefore, based on the interests of each researcher, the Eurasian History and Culture Research Group aims to explore how various historical images in various parts of Eurasia can be brought to light or how the previous historical image can be rewritten by using stone carvings, documents, and draft historical materials of each region.

Promote research and application of the current state of digital humanities
【Research purpose and research characteristics】
The progress of digital humanities in the world is greatly accelerating. In addition, the range of applications is expanding day by day. In the Digital Humanities Research Group, we would like to grasp the current status of information technology and Internet technology, share our understanding, and actually apply the best ones to research. The key to research is to focus on getting the latest information on digital humanities. In addition, it is important to share information on the application of technology with an emphasis on the field.
